Happy Tuesday everyone!
Typing that out just made me realize…it’s TACO TUESDAY! Woo!
So Lexi is turning 2 on the 14th…yes…TWO! I can’t believe it! Moms are so right when they say time just flies by. We have been trying to figure out what to get Lexi for her birthday because homegirl does NOT need anymore toys. So we decided to work on her playroom!
As usual, I went to Pinterest to get some small playroom ideas and stumbled across this picture…

I immediately thought this was so cute and creative! Lexi loves coloring and painting but there isn’t much room to work with in this tiny room so I loved the idea of this one that was just against the wall. I then went to find where I could buy this and came across it from George & Willy…for almost $200!
Personally, I was not about dropping $200 on this so I decided to figure out how to make my own and I did…for under $50!
& I am here to share it with you today!
HOW I DID IT

For starters, I ordered this table top paper holder from Amazon. You can click here to find it.

Then we spray painted everything black! We just used some black spray paint that my mom had leftover from some of her home projects.
Now for that paper cutter bar…
My mom came up with the idea to get a yard stick, cut it, paint it and stick that to the wall…so we did just that!

We had this yard stick just laying around, so we decided to put it to good use. Since the paper roll we wanted was 18 inches, we cut the yard stick at 20 inches so that we had an inch on each side to stick it to the wall.
Then we spray painted it black with the same paint used for the paper roll holder.
Once all of that was dry, we got large command strips, and stuck them to the back of the paper roll holder and yardsti…I mean paper cutter bar…and then proceeded to stick that against the wall.
Later, the whole thing came tumbling down! Oops…
My husband went into the garage and found some of these guys…

We took the command strips off of the paper roll holder and my husband put these in and then put some screws into the wall to make it hold better and now it’s staying up!
The paper roll was just too heavy for the command strips BUT you can still use those for the paper cutter bar (aka yard stick).
As for the paper roll, we ordered this one…

You can find it by clicking here.
Once it was all done, here is what it looked like!

As you can see, I also did the polka dots because I thought that was so cute too!

Lexi loves it and it looks so cute in her playroom! We are so happy with it and even happier that we were able to do all of this on a tight budget.
